Warm Anime For a Comfy Indoor Sunday

Some days are just made for staying indoors, basking in the sunlight, a nice thin blanket, a cup of coffee in hand, sitting like a furball curled up in your chair, and emoting to a good anime. Here's a list for you if you are interested in feeling warm while also being entertained. These are a mix of series and movies, as well as a super short flick.

Kakushigoto:

Kakushigoto is a wholesome anime that goes over a family of two's peculiar circumstances due to what one considers a terrible secret. Kakushi is a mangaka of the erotic kind but puts on a charade as a regular salaryman because he does not want his daughter to dislike him while being the only parent. His daughter, aptly named Hime meaning princess, goes through her years through the episodes and we get to see this family's adorable bond. As the series progresses, we get in touch with multiple characters who play differing roles but usually in a comedic way while we also get to the point where Hime starts to learn of her father's well-hidden secret.

Wolf Children:

An all-time classic family film about acceptance, choice, and understanding what suits one best in life. The story momentarily follows the relationship of Hana, a college girl, and Ookami, the last living werewolf. At this early stage with 2 kids, we see their family starting tough times with Ookami being targeted and eventually killed. Following this tragedy, Hana and her children move away and try to live a peaceful life in the countryside. Here is where the bulk of the movie takes place, looking at their struggles, Hana's worries, Ame and Yuki growing up as part human part wolf kids, deciding how they want to accept their truths and live the best way it fits for them - be it as human or wolf.

Tokyo Godfathers:

If you have seen Baby's Day Out, Home Alone, or even Ludo, your preference may be to see an ultra-fast-paced movie that covers a lot of insane events that string together to make complete sense and give the story a good conclusion whilst occurring over just a day. If that is the case, Tokyo Godfathers is here to stake its claim as one of if not the best in that category. We have a charming found family consisting of 3 homeless characters living in the same slum while persisting with ghosts of their pasts haunting them, as they truly make a Christmas miracle happen.

Spy x Family:

Spy x Family or SpyFam is a wholesome found family that comes together due to their unique circumstances and lies - Loid is a spy who must quash the plans of certain factions to maintain peace but to do so he must get close to the ultra-rich, for this he must create a make-believe family and raise a child to go to Eden Academy where these VIPs' children attend. He adopts Anya, a kid with psychic powers but truly a dumb-adorable-peanut-loving child who just wants a family. He adds Yor to this combination, an assassin for the state who eliminates the country's traitors, and gladly joins in to form a family. Each character has an essential part to play while hiding their true selves bringing real hilarity and mild drama to the mix.

Anthem of The Heart:

Anthem of The Heart is a wholesome high school drama about a girl (Jun Naruse) who has been scarred and become reclused in her ways, a popular girl (Natsuki Nitou) who finds herself within the group, an aloof seeming guy (Sakagami Takumi) going through a rough patch who may or may not fix their struggles, and a baseball player (Tasaki Daiki) with an unintentional comedic streak to him. This group and their interpersonal relations drive this anime forward. We explore Naruse's past and what caused her to stop being a fairy-tale-loving chatterbox to becoming a socially mute loner with the intent to open her heart again, while the other characters deal with their own sets of drama. Anthem of The Heart is a child of old Disney movies and Comixworks (Makoto Shinkai) movies.

Dareka no Manazashi:

A short 6-minute animation that encapsulates "returning home after a busy schedule and going through memories".

Whether you enjoyed this part or not or even reached this site, idc, I might make a part 2 if I feel like it.
